Scottsdale Recognizes Oakley’s Oath Day

SCOTTSDALE, AZ, APRIL 6, 2023 – The city of Scottsdale has proclaimed April 14 Oakley’s Oath Day, a day to recognize and remember the importance of taking extra precautions in the home to protect the safety of children and pets.

Oakley’s Oath, a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization located in Scottsdale, strives to protect children and pets from preventable accidents by providing contractors and homeowners with guidelines that help keep everyone safe. The organization was founded by Julie Kessler after her dog Oakley accidentally drowned during a home renovation.

“The safety of pets and children should always be a top priority of every family in Scottsdale and throughout Arizona, especially when there is construction going on inside the home,” the proclamation states.

Scottsdale is home to more than 40,000 children and has previously been recognized as the most pet-friendly city in the country, which makes Oakley’s Oath Day even more meaningful.

“I’m grateful to Mayor Ortega, the Scottsdale City Council, and the entire City of Scottsdale for helping to share the mission of Oakley’s Oath in our hometown,” said Kessler. “Losing our family dog to a preventable accident was a tragic experience, and I would hate for other homeowners to face the same pain. I hope that April 14 helps others remember how important it is to practice safety in the home, especially when children and pets are involved.”

Oakley’s Oath Announces First Partnership

SCOTTSDALE, AZ, Feb. 23, 2023 – Oakley’s Oath, a Scottsdale based nonprofit that strives to protect children and pets from preventable accidents, has announced their first partnership with Everlasting Window and Door, a family owned and operated business that specializes in window and door replacement and installation.

The new partnership aims to keep kids and pets safe when new doors or windows are being installed in the home. When renovations are taking place in the home the day-to-day routine is interrupted, which has the potential to cause excitement and confusion in young children or pets. Being distracted or intrigued by these changes can lead to injury to a child or pet, which could easily be prevented. Oakley’s Oath aims to provide contractors and homeowners with common sense guidelines that help keep everyone safe.

Under the guidance of Oakley’s Oath Safety Game Plan, Everlasting Window and Door has promised to keep the safety of pets and children in mind when working in the home. Julie Kessler, the founder of Oakley’s Oath, has made sure of their commitment to safety herself.

“Everlasting Window and Door did an excellent job of ensuring the safety of our dog during the installation of our new door in December. We unfortunately know the pain that comes with having an accident happen when renovations are taking place, so the extra steps to protect our home made us feel so much better. We are proud to partner with them and help other families experience a safe home renovation experience,” Kessler said.

As a family owned and operated business, Everlasting Window and Door places a priority on the safety of their clients and their people during the renovations they oversee.

“We empathize with the mission behind Oakley’s Oath,” Alex Ponce, owner of Everlasting Window and Door said. “Having our team members in your home and performing work can be stressful, and we want to minimize that stress in every way possible. Partnering with Oakley’s Oath takes our commitment to safety one step further, and helps put our clients more at ease.”

This partnership will serve the greater Phoenix area and every home that Everlasting Window and Door installs moving forward.
